The Sky Tree Secret: A Tokyo Adventure, Chapter 8
Chapter 8: The Ferris Wheel Mystery
The train ride to Odaiba felt endless. The glowing shard was tucked safely into Aiko’s bag, wrapped in a scarf to keep it hidden.
When they arrived, the Palette Town Ferris Wheel stood tall against the night sky, glowing with bright neon lights.
“Wow,” Aiko whispered. “It’s even bigger up close.”
The Ferris Wheel was famous not just for its size, but also for its stunning views of Tokyo Bay. However, Haru’s eyes weren’t on the view—they were scanning for anything unusual.
“Look for something out of place,” Haru said as they walked along the platform.
Tama’s tail twitched as it scanned the area, letting out a faint meow before darting toward a red Ferris Wheel cabin parked near the boarding area.
“Good job, Tama!” Haru said.
They climbed into the cabin, and the Ferris Wheel operator, an elderly man with kind eyes, gave them a curious look before closing the door.
The cabin began to rise slowly, offering a breathtaking view of Rainbow Bridge and the glittering lights of the city.
But Haru’s focus was inside. Underneath one of the cabin seats was a small compartment—and inside was another shimmering clue: a folded piece of paper and a faintly glowing silver key.
“The next clue!” Aiko said excitedly.
Haru unfolded the paper. It read:
“At the gate where steel birds rest, the final light awaits.”
“Steel birds?” Aiko frowned.
“Airplanes!” Haru said. “It’s talking about Haneda Airport!”
But before they could celebrate, Tama’s eyes flashed red, and it let out a frantic meow.
The Ferris Wheel cabin jolted suddenly, coming to an abrupt stop high above the city.
The voice of the shadowy figure crackled over the cabin’s speakers.
“You didn’t think I’d lose you that easily, did you?”
The cabin swayed slightly in the wind as the lights of the Ferris Wheel flickered.
“We’re trapped!” Aiko said, clutching the key tightly.
