Mummo the Pumpkin Keeper


     Deep within the heart of Whispering Woods, where the trees hummed ancient lullabies, lived Mummo the Pumpkin Keeper. Wrapped in enchanted bandages that shimmered under the moonlight, Mummo cradled a glowing pumpkin with a carved grin. This wasn’t an ordinary pumpkin—it was the Lantern of Whimsy, a magical relic that stored stories waiting to be told. Every Halloween, the pumpkin would flicker brighter, signaling that a new tale was ready to awaken, but this year, something felt different. The light inside the pumpkin sputtered, as if the stories within were struggling to stay alive.


     Determined to save the fading magic, Mummo ventured beyond the woods for the first time in centuries. Guided by the soft glow of the Lantern, he stumbled upon a small village where children no longer told stories or played pretend. Their imaginations had been stolen by a shadowy figure known as the Dullmaker, who crept into dreams and locked away creativity. Mummo realized that the only way to restore the Lantern’s glow was to reignite the children’s imaginations. He began weaving enchanted tales in the air, letting glowing story fragments swirl around the village, drawing the children out with wonder in their eyes.


     As the children laughed and created new stories of their own, the Lantern of Whimsy blazed brilliantly in Mummo’s hands. The Dullmaker’s shadow dissolved in the bright light of imagination, freeing the village from its gloomy spell. Mummo smiled beneath his wrappings, knowing the stories would live on as long as the children believed. With a final wave, he melted back into the forest, the Lantern glowing steadily once more, ready to guard the next story waiting to be told.
